Enterprise Today: A New Vision

Enterprise today is fighting to retain its natural beauty and rural character from being lost to annexations by Deltona and unrestrained development going on around it. Still a haven from the congestion and sprawl of contemporary life, Enterprise has become a model for historic preservation in West Volusia County and serves as an example for other communities trying to save their heritage from encroaching urban growth.

Enterprise Heritage Center

Members of the Volusia County School Board, Enterprise Preservation Society, and the Volusia County Historic Resource Office worked together to acquire the old school building for a Heritage Center and community meeting place. The building will be moved across the street to a new location. A cultural arts and history study center is planned for the future.

Community Activism

The Enterprise Preservation Society has emerged as the leading force for recognition and preservation of the community and its history. Due to the hard work and cooperation of its members and County staff, the Enterprise Area Protection Plan was implemented in 2004, a first step toward the dream of preserving the community as a historic village.
